Description
“Kaak Kaak” (2018) by Lebanese artist Dyala Khodary, is on view and for sale at Zamaan Art Gallery.
“Kaak Kaak” was the central piece of the exhibition “Beirut in Patterns” at Art on 56th, where Dyala explored the patchwork of her city’s urban landscapes, structures, towers and vestiges.
Born in Beirut in 1979, Dyala Khodary graduated from the Lebanese University Institute of Fine Arts in 2002, henceforth joining other Lebanese women artists of her generation who focus on the treatment of local components of Beirut and its social construct. Her work combines various aesthetic and decorative tendencies; it is conceptual in content and figurative in representation, allowing her to juggle with the complexities of patterned surfaces and the emotional characteristics of local places.
