FULLY REMOTE Company: Cereal Soup Games Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time or Long-Term Contract About Cereal Soup Games Cereal Soup is an independent game studio building its first commercial title. We're a small team based out of the U.S. with big ambitions and are looking for an experienced Unity developer who wants to help shape both the game and the future of the studio. This role goes beyond programming. You will be the primary technical leader on the project, helping guide development, establish workflows, and work directly with the founders to turn ideas into a polished game. What You'll Do • Serve as the lead developer for our Unity project • Design and implement core gameplay systems • Make key technical and architectural decisions • Manage and coordinate a small team of developers • Review code and maintain development standards • Work closely with designers, artists, and studio leadership • Help plan milestones and estimate development timelines • Identify technical risks and propose practical solutions • Optimize performance and maintain code quality • Assist with hiring and onboarding future developers as the team grows Required Qualifications • 5+ years of professional Unity development experience • Strong C# programming skills • Experience shipping at least one commercial game • Deep understanding of Unity architecture and best practices • Experience working with Git and collaborative workflows • Ability to work independently and take ownership of major systems • Strong communication and leadership skills • Experience mentoring or leading other developers Nice to Have • Experience in indie game development • Experience building custom Unity tools • Experience optimizing games for multiple platforms • Familiarity with Steam publishing workflows • Startup experience or experience working on small teams • Project planning or technical management experience Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who enjoys building games, solving difficult technical challenges, and helping a small team succeed. The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing multiple hats. Some days you'll be building gameplay systems, other days you'll be reviewing code, planning milestones, helping unblock teammates, or advising on technical direction. You don't need to know everything—but you should be able to lead a project, make sound technical decisions, and help others do their best work.
